Manuscript Critique - Jacquelyn will critique a limited number of full and partial manuscripts each year, for individuals who do not have the time or resources to attend a full weekend seminar.
Each critique will consist of a full read, pages marked with specific editing changes and suggestions, a one-page discussion of major and minor suggestions for structure, description, pace, dialogue and characterization -- both for fiction and non-fiction books -- and a copy of one or more Jacquelyn's lectures or lessons on particular issues that pertain to the individual book or chapters. Each critique will include a 40-minute telephone conversation to address questions.
A copy of her lesson on grammar traps is included, as everyone needs it!
While most "book doctors" are not successful authors, these critiques should not replace or substitute for professional line edits.
Manuscripts not yet completed, as well as those already placed with agents, may be submitted.
A critique will help writers decide if the project is on the right track, if a full revision of the existing project is necessary or if the project should be re-shaped from existing materials to a shorter or longer work.
